Southwestern Advantage Benefits and Challenges

Money

For many students, the potential income the Southwestern Advantage Summer Internship Program can offer is very appealing. But, the money doesn’t come easy. The most successful Southwestern Advantage student dealers choose to work long hours, six days a week.

Running your own business can be challenging, but very rewarding. The amount of money you save throughout the summer, however, depends directly on you. The average amount saved last summer by a Southwestern Advantage student dealer was nearly $8,000*. Some first-year Southwestern Advantage student dealers made up to $33,000, while some students did not make any money. We advise students checking out our program to focus on what the average student makes. How much you make and save over the summer is directly proportional to your work habits and how you apply the training you receive in the Southwestern Advantage Sales School. Just like any other entrepreneurial endeavor, if you are not working, you are not making any money.

If you are in need of a guaranteed salary or a set amount of income, this may not be the opportunity for you. But if you think you are up to a challenge and would prosper in an environment where there is no ceiling on potential, this may be exactly for you.

Experience

There are lots of summer jobs college students can have that simply offer a paycheck. However, that’s exactly what they are – jobs, not career training. Southwestern Advantage offers you the opportunity to run your own business, learning desirable skills important to your future career – whatever your field of study.

Let’s face it. Most students do not go to college to major in “sales.“ With Southwestern Advantage, sales can be a stepping stone to a future career. The most important sale you ever make may be selling yourself in an interview upon graduation, and, no doubt, you’ll be selling your ideas everyday. Southwestern Advantage can provide you the experience you need to achieve your goals in life. The Southwestern Advantage Summer Internship Program is an experiential education – knowledge and skills you gain as you actually experience it. This type of education can not be taught in the classroom. It’s also the type of experience that will set you apart from other job candidates.

Challenge

Life is full of challenges. A summer experience with Southwestern Advantage is no exception. For some students, it is the challenge they seek – to be out of their element in a new place getting to know new people. Some students want to build their communication skills and some want to gain those same skills.

For each individual, a summer with Southwestern Advantage offers something different, whether in the form of becoming a problem-solver to overcoming rejection to adhering to a schedule or gaining maturity. What may be easy for one person, may be a tough new experience for another.

No one ever said life would be easy – and this program is not for those looking for an easy way to spend a summer. The students who are best suited to succeed are the ones who have an inner desire to study hard, work hard, and be coachable. Prior sales experience is not necessary, but a willingness to grow is.

Travel

Travel is a goal of many college and university students everywhere. It’s a big world with so much to see.

What does Southwestern Advantage have to offer in terms of travel? Many students are interested in seeing another part of the country, or in the case of the International nations Southwestern Advantage recruits in, a whole other country!

Students participating in the Southwestern Advantage Summer Internship Program gain independence and maturity by relocating to another community. They become part of the community and get to know many fascinating families.

Southwestern Advantage also offers dealers incentive trips to countries outside of the U.S. such as Mexico, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Belize to name a few.
